Easy Lasagna Stuffed Shells
This easy lasagna stuffed shells recipe was so good! It has all the delicious, rich lasagna flavors. Best of all it’s easy and quick to make.
To make these easy lasagna stuffed shells, I only used a few ingredients. I cooked up some jumbo shells, I used about 20, so I only needed about half of a box. You will be baking these stuffed shells, so when you boil your noodles, only boil them for about half the time recommended on the package. My package said 14 to 15 min, so I boiled them for 8 mins. Then drain and rinse in cold water. You want them to be almost al dente, but still have firmness to them.
I also used a pound of ground Italian sausage, a cup of ricotta cheese a jar of spaghetti sauce and a cup of mozzarella cheese. I also cooked my sausage in some onion and garlic to add more flavor. You could also use onion and garlic powder to season your sausage if you don’t have the fresh ingredients on hand. After the meat was cooked, I mixed it with a cup of ricotta cheese. Then I stuffed the shells and placed them into a casserole dish, covered with sauce and cheese and baked at 350 for 30 min.
These easy lasagna stuffed shells is a recipe that will make it into my family’s dinner rotation! It is delicious, rich and hearty. It is a fun twist on classic lasagna and perfect for any family meal. I definitely recommend giving this recipe a try today! - 1 large pot
- 1 large pan
- 1 measuring cup
- 1 casserole dish or 9×13 dish
- 1 large spoon
- 1 soup spoon
- 1 ground beef chopper
- 1 med/large bowl
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground Italian sausage
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/2 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 jar spaghetti sauce
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese
- 20 jumbo shells
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- In large pot, boil about 20 (1/2 box) jumbo shells for about 8 min. You want them to be undercooked. Drain and rinse shells, then set aside.
- Preheat oven to 350.
- In large pan, add diced onion into 1 tbsp of olive oil and cook until transparent.
- Add ground sausage and cook using chopper break up meat.
- When sausage is browned, add garlic and cook additional 2-3 minutes, until garlic is fragrant and sausage is cooked.
- Remove sausage from heat and pour into bowl. Let cool for a couple of minutes.
- Add 1 cup of ricotta cheese to the meat, and stir to combine.
- In casserole dish, cover bottom with a layer of sauce, so that your noodles don't stick to the bottom.
- Use soup spoon to scoop meat mixture into shells and arrange in casserole dish.
- Pour desired amount of sauce over top of filled shells.
- Top with 1 cup of mozzarella cheese.
- Bake in oven at 350 for about 30 min. Until sauce is bubbly and cheese is melted.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- Ground beef (or any ground protein you like) can be used instead of ground sausage. I recommend adding 1 tbsp Italian seasoning to your protein if not using the Italian sausage.
- Any good, melty cheese you like can be used. If you don’t have mozzarella, you can use Monterrey jack or even pepper jack.
