These delicious red velvet cookies are topped with a sweet, whipped cream cheese frosting and can satisfy any sweet tooth! I love red velvet cake and was really in the mood for it this weekend, but my husband isn’t a red velvet fan. So I decided to make myself some cookies instead. They turned out fantastic!
I really like them because they are super soft and rich. They taste just like the red velvet cake I was craving, just a little more dense in the cookie form. The frosting is a whipped cream cheese frosting which really balances the richness of the cookie very well. They are soft, rich and decadent, just like red velvet should be!
These frosted red velvet cookies were easy to make and I will definitely be bringing them to future get togethers. I think they would be really fun at a Valentine’s Day party or for a fun twist on some of the more traditional Christmas cookies. You could also put a little green food coloring in your whipped frosting if you were having them for a Christmas party.
When making these cookies, the bake time does seem kind of short, but go with it. These cookies don’t puff up and spread out much so they will bake quickly. I can also see how they could dry out if they were over baked. These red velvet cookies are intended to be a soft cookie.
So if you are in the mood for red velvet, give these a try and let me know what you thought by commenting below!
