These oven baked, bacon wrapped jalapeños are a delicious appetizer everyone will love! They are made with fresh jalapeños, stuffed with a delicious mix of cheeses and wrapped in crispy bacon. They are sure to be a hit at any party!
It is a good idea to have a pair of latex or food handling gloves handy for this recipe. Since you will be handling raw jalapeños, and they can definitely make your skin burn. Also never touch your face or your eyes after handling jalapeños until you have washed your hands thoroughly!
You will use bacon slices that are cut in half width wise. I like to secure my bacon around my jalapeños with toothpicks that I have broken in half, one securing the top and the other at the bottom of the pepper.
I like to use regular sliced bacon for mine, because I like my bacon crispy and I find that the thick sliced bacon takes much longer to crisp up.

Oven Baked Bacon Wrapped Jalapeños
Equipment
- 2 Baking Sheets
- 2 Wire Racks
- 24 toothpicks halved
- 1 Medium Bowl
- 1 Aluminum Foil
- 1 pair gloves latex or other food safe preparation gloves
Ingredients
- 12 Jalapeños cut in half lengthwise
- 8 oz Cream Cheese softened
- 1 cup Cheddar Cheese shredded
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
- 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
- 1/4 cup Green Onions diced
- 1 lb Bacon cut in half
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425. Wrap baking sheets in foil at set wire racks in them. Set aside.
- Combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper and green onions in medium bowl. Stir until ingredients are mixed together well.
- Wearing gloves, cut jalapeños in half lengthwise and carefully scoop out and discard seeds and membranes with a spoon.
- Fill peppers with cheese mixture.
- Wrap peppers with bacon, securing ends with toothpicks.
- Place bacon wrapped peppers on prepared baking sheets.
- Bake at 425 20 – 30 mins or until bacon has reached desired crispiness.
Notes
- Wire racks are important, because they allow the grease to drain while baking and increase crispiness
- Wrapping pans in foil simplifies clean up and helps with crispiness
- When buying jalapeños, choose longer, larger peppers (about 4 to 5 inches)
- Don’t overfill peppers with the cheese mixture, just fill them level. There is usually just enough of the mixture, and overfilling results in the cheese just falling out into the pan.
