This fresh pico de gallo recipe is very versatile and super easy to make! My first restaurant job was in a Mexican restaurant many years ago. That was when I really discovered pico de gallo. If you are not familiar with pico de gallo, it is very similar to an extremely chunky salsa. It is made with only a few ingredients, and it adds so much flavor to any dish!

Fresh pico de gallo is made with tomatoes, cilantro, garlic, jalapeños, onions and a little bit of salt and pepper. It is very easy to customize depending on your tastes. You can add more or less of any ingredient depending on your taste preferences.

I like to make this pico de gallo for carne asada tacos, fish tacos, shredded beef tacos, carnitas, fajitas and used as a chunky salsa with tortilla chips. As you can see it is very versatile!

Fresh pico de gallo is easy to make, all you have to do is gather up your ingredients and dice them up the combine and season to taste. I think this recipe is best after it sits for a little while so that all the flavors can combine. So if you have the time, I recommend putting your pico de gallo together a couple of hours before serving and storing in the fridge. You could make it the day before also. If you don’t have the extra time to make your pico de gallo ahead of time, that is fine too. It will still taste great!
